Wouldn't it just be easier for the europeans to ask for compensation from the american companies for using their peoples' data? And if Amazon is investing in GAIA-X doesn't that sort of defeat the purpose, since I assume one of the main reasons AWS would invest is to have access to that data. Perhaps it is some sort of anti-monopoly thing like when Microsoft was forced to bail out Apple back in the day?
